While in London recently I had the pleasure of paying a visit to the studio of artist Jemima Brown, the recipient of the Mark Tanner Sculpture award for 2011. Jemima is known for her sculptural explorations of the animate versus the inanimate, and the formation of the complex visual narratives involved in self-creation. It was very inspiring to discuss the artist’s latest work and process as I photographed her for her September 2011 Standpoint Gallery exhibition catalog.
In the early part of 2009 I had a full crew in my studio to help me photograph some kids. These images were the foundation for the photo illustrations on Adobe’s line of consumer software. I worked with Randy Yau of Tolleson Design who art directed the shoot. John Caponi of Adobe was on hand to approve the photography. We worked with The Blackwell Files for casting.
This was the second year creating images for Adobe. The first was in 2008.
San Francisco’s Mission Bay medical has been sprouting up buildings near my studio for several years now. One of the new occupants of the complex is Sirna Therapeutics, which is a RNA research arm of Merck & Co.. I was commissioned to create a series of images that give glimpse into their laboratory facilities.
I was commissioned by Restaurant Hospitality Magazine this last spring to drive up to Napa Valley and photograph celebrity chef Michael Chiarello in his home. The assignment was for a regular article the magazine runs where chefs discuss items in their refrigerators, thus the fridge is open in each of these shots. No, that was not an oversight.
Michael Chiarello is best known for his role as a host on the Food Network and Bravo channel’s new “Top Chef Masters”. He is also the owner of Bottega Napa Valley, Tra Vigne, and the NapaStyle Paninoteca & Wine Bar.
Once in awhile I’m a second shooter for Debra, and I love it that way. I’m basically free to roam the wedding and shoot to my hearts content while Deb focuses on client relations and formals. For me wedding photography is an adventure sport.

I’ve neglected this blog for about 8 months now and I’m anxious to get some new posts up. These images of Chris displaying competitive body building poses was taken in my studio earlier this year. Enjoy and I’ll have a post of a recent trip to Guatemala up this week.
