The shoot took place in the cold winter days of 2005. Ironically this was for the 2006 Summer catalog for the The Sak. I worked with Art Director Randy Yau and designer Sandi Micone on this shoot which took place over 5 days. Since the concept for the catalog was postcards, we went all over San Francisco replicate a tourists view of San Francisco.
This is a project from the archives. The original shoot took place in 2005 and this was for the 2006 spring catalog for the The Sak. At the time The Sak was based here in the Mission in San Francisco. I worked with Art Director Randy Yau and designer Sandi Micone on this shoot which took place over 5 days.

Casting Kids for Adobe
CommentWhile in London recently I had the pleasure of paying a visit to the studio of artist Jemima Brown, the recipient of the Mark Tanner Sculpture award for 2011. Jemima is known for her sculptural explorations of the animate versus the inanimate, and the formation of the complex visual narratives involved in self-creation. It was very inspiring to discuss the artist’s latest work and process as I photographed her for her September 2011 Standpoint Gallery exhibition catalog.

CommentIn the early part of 2009 I had a full crew in my studio to help me photograph some kids. These images were the foundation for the photo illustrations on Adobe’s line of consumer software. I worked with Randy Yau of Tolleson Design who art directed the shoot. John Caponi of Adobe was on hand to approve the photography. We worked with The Blackwell Files for casting.
This was the second year creating images for Adobe. The first was in 2008.

CommentHere is a continuation of my work in the outdoor industry for Overland Equipment. This was a similar shoot to the summer catalog photography we did earlier in the year in Chico. For the winter catalog and marketing material we brought the photography session home to San Francisco.
All photos by San Francisco photographer Gregory Cowley.

CommentSan Francisco’s Mission Bay medical has been sprouting up buildings near my studio for several years now. One of the new occupants of the complex is Sirna Therapeutics, which is a RNA research arm of Merck & Co.. I was commissioned to create a series of images that give glimpse into their laboratory facilities.
